We found Dungog to be an unexpectedly attractive small town . And the Settlers Arms was probably the best choice we made for our overnight stay; warm atmosphere, pleasant staff, good food. Located off the main street, it was quiet. Not that Dungog high street is noisy.

It can get a bit chilly here in winter, so warm clothes are a definite.

Nestled in the hills some 200km north of Sydney, is the town of Dungog.

We will quite likely stay here again next visit.

Great atmosphere, especially enjoyed the record player at the bar and table games. Food was delicious and it came out fairly quickly. Decent serves, reasonable value. Menu was small but everything we had was great. Friendy service behind the bar and a good selection of tap beers, wines and spirits and reasonable prices. Would definitely visit again.

The breakfast arrangements were a little disappointing; self-serve with not much selection. No staff around to check that we were managing OK.

The room (double, shared facilities) has enough room for bags, moving around and the bed. There is a heater, but the bed is quite warm and comfy, so it wasn't needed. Only 3C in the morning, so not too bad.

The included breakfast consists of cereal, tea, coffee, toast & yogurt. If you ant anything else, bring it with you.

For this trip we stayed at The Settlers Arms, a nice little pub at the edge of town. It was built in the mid-1800's, so don't expect Hilton style accommodation. The food is good. There are a number of offerings in town, but here seems to have the better reputation locally.

The food is very nice & the staff are very helpful & friendly. The open fire in the front bar is cozy also, with a good selection of spirits & wines.

We would stay there again, but probably have breakfast at one of the cafe's nearby. Which are good.

A very nice rural pub that is quietly situated in a "back" street. Tastefully renovated. A hidden gem! Lunch was delicious with some very well priced options. Our larger group (24 people) was served promptly and efficiently.
